Where it all began…

Hi there, Graeme here.

I’m am still the owner, manager and founder of what was once South Island Log homes, now Natural Log homes ltd. You can still find me in the office at NLH production yard here in Geraldine or at the end of the phone.

How did I get into log home construction I’m often asked. As a boy of 16, a friend and I built a crude, horizontal log walled, shelter in a plantation next to where we were holidaying, tied with flax, at the corners and big enough for us to sleep in. It was the start of it all, really.

Graeme-Mould-Where-it-began

This was prior to me even knowing I was going to leave school, and qualify as a carpenter, as my father did and my grandfather before him. While living and working in Mount Cook village, I was fortunate to go on two log home construction courses, the first in Twizel, and the second more advanced in Hanmer Springs, taught by an experienced American Log builder. Soon after leaving Mount Cook I started my own company South Island Log Homes, and have not looked back.

I am very passionate about the eco friendly construction, and beautiful handcrafted log homes we now build for our happy customers.

I have also been the tutor of many Log home construction courses over the years, and have made many good friends, and helped them achieve their log home dreams.

So feel free to peruse our web site, and if there is anything that takes your fancy give me call and I will endeavor to help you experience your log home dream also.

Regards Graeme Mould
